“I am so excited to use these with my 5th graders again this year! This has a good amount of background knowledge sections, and great instructions for how to put together, which steps to take first, etc. Thank you!”

Celebrate Black History Month and/or Women’s History Month with a FUN PROJECT that allows students to learn about heroic figures in history as they express their creativity. Students will do research on one heroic figure in history.

How does this work?

Students research one famous heroic figure in Women’s or Black history. They use planners that guide their research. After planning and gathering facts and information, students will fill out parts that go onto each side of the cereal box. They will later color, decorate and add fun cut outs to make their work POP!

Tip: If you have trouble getting cereal boxes from your class, send a staff email asking for cereal boxes! Small or large boxes will both work.

What is included?

  • Black and white portraits of 45 heroes in history for covers that students color in
  • Blanks for students to draw their own

FAQs

Do students have to write about one of the figures mentioned?

No, students can write about someone else. There are blank covers if students want to draw their own or write about someone not included on the list.

Will any size cereal box do?

Yes. Small and large cereal boxes will do. Students can add the included cutouts to fill up the extra space for a larger than average sized cereal box.
